Obituary of Dorothy M. Wilmoth

Dorothy Matilda Poole Wilmoth

July 16, 1927 - January 16, 2022

Dorothy was born and raised in Philadelphia, but spent most of her adult life in Delaware County. She lived her faith in Jesus Christ by showing His love to her family, friends, church family, neighbors and everyone she met. Dorothy was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved being actively involved in all of their lives and interests, sharing about them with everyone.  Most recently she was proud to have become a great-great grandmother.  Following West Philadelphia High School, Dorothy attended Temple University and aspired to become a librarian.  However, upon Harry’s return from serving in World War II, she married her High School sweetheart and the love of her life. She continued her passion of reading throughout her life with history and mysteries being her favorites.

Dorothy lived her life in serving others.  She was a lifelong member of CrossPointe Church (formerly known as Calvary Presbyterian) and avidly involved in numerous church committees. She served as a Girl Scout leader for over 27 years and loved volunteering with CrossPointe Church’s Vacation Bible School, helping create and teach crafts that matched the Bible lessons. Dorothy was a founder and lifelong member of the Aston Lioness Club, where she loved volunteering for the summertime Blind Day Camp. In her younger years, she enjoyed travelling to Europe and also went on numerous short trips with various family members.  She had a love for big band music, square dancing and singing all the old hymns. Her lifelong hobbies include: crafting, needlepoint, bird watching and completing crossword puzzles. She had a love for nature and animals.  She never missed watching and cheering for her favorite teams, the Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies. Dorothy will forever be remembered in the hearts and minds of everyone whose life she touched.

Dorothy is predeceased by her parents William and Hazel Poole, and her husband Harry H. Wilmoth and brothers, Richard Poole and William Poole Jr.  She is survived by her daughters Carol Cole, Gloria Erb, Kathleen Sinacori (Kenneth); grandchildren: Barbara Erb, Mark Cole (Laura), Jennifer Crawford (Chuck), Tammy Lowe, Amanda Talley, Bryan Lowe (Marley), Christine Slamon (Nicholas), Kimberly Boldin and Louis Robinson (Michelle), 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

The funeral services will be held at CrossPointe Church, 601 S. New Middletown Road, Media, PA 19063.  A Viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. The Funeral Service begins at 11 a.m. followed by a funeral procession to the Cemetery and a brief Graveside Service at Glenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 2321 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008, offered by Pastor Aaron Lira.
