Maria (nee Vossos) Ledakis was born on October 25, 1933 in the town of Kyllini, a small port town in the west coast of the Peloponnese of Greece.

She is the middle child of three siblings, including her older sister Anastasia (Nitsa) and her brother Dionisis (Dennis). Both of her siblings predeceased her.

Maria and her family moved from Kyllini to Athens in Greece when Maria was 2 years old where her family opened a traditional pastry bakery. Maria worked in the family bakery throughout her childhood and early adult life.

Maria met her future husband, Emmanuel, in 1956.  In 1959 they were engaged and in 1962 they married.

On May 1st, 1969, Maria and Emmanuel traded their lives in Greece for the hope of a better future in the U.S.

Their only child, George, was born in September 1972. George is married to Claudia (nee DiPrinzio).

George and Claudia have two children - Ilyana (age 15) and Caden (age 8).   

Emmanuel died on July 31, 2009. 

Visitation: Thursday, September 11th after 10:00AM at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, 30 E. Forge Rd., Media, PA 19063.

Funeral Service: Thursday, September 11th at 11:00AM at the church.

Interment: Edgewood Memorial Park.
