Obituary of Dominick Gizzio, Jr.
Dominick Gizzio, 87, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Born May 31, 1931, in South Philadelphia to Dominick & Helen (Minicozzi) Gizzio. At 15 years old, Dominick went to work as a baker for American Baking Company and continued for nine years until he and his two brothers opened their own business, Gizzio Brothers Auto Service Center in Southwest Philadelphia. Along with their sister Louise, they successfully ran the family business for over 40 years. Dominick was a faithful member of Grace Bible Fellowship Church, Wallingford for over 50 years.
Dominick was married 63 years to his beloved wife Marjorie (nee Iadarola). Together they raised 4 children, loving grandpop to 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Dominick’s retirement years were devoted to spending time with his growing family. He continually praised and encouraged each one, proudly attending their school activities.
Along with his wife Marjorie, Dominick is survived by his 3 loving daughters and 1 son, Linda (Nick) Mirolli, Margie (Lou) Cosentino, Helen (Jim) DuVernois, Dominick III (Marisa) Gizzio, 9 loving grandchildren, Gina (Angel) Crespo, Nicolina Mirolli, Antonio Cosentino, Joseph (Sarah Henry) Cosentino, Anthony, Vincent & Dominick DuVernois, Sofia and Francesca Gizzio and 2 loving great granddaughters, Graciella & Noemi Crespo. Also survived by his devoted brother John Gizzio, sisters Louise Gizzio & Rose (John) Vesper, sister-in-laws, Rita Gizzio, Gloria Gutierrez, brother-in-law Ronald (Kathy) Iadarola and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his older brother Vito and sister-in-law Patricia Gizzio.
Family and Friends are invited to attend Dominick’s Celebration of Life, Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Grace Bible Fellowship Church, 723 S. Providence Rd, Wallingford, PA. Visitation 9:30am-10:45am, service to follow at 11:00am.
Interment at Longwood Cemetery, Kenneth Square, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests in Dominick’s memory donations to Alzheimer’s Association, National Headquarters, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601
Our family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful nursing and hospice team at Bryn Mawr Hospital for their care and compassion and to the many dedicated staff at the Quadrangle attending to Dominick’s needs during this past year.
