Condolences
Joe and I attended St. James and Temple Law school together, and began the practice of law in Media, Pa., with several other close friends. Although fond memories are too numerous to mention here, two immediately come to mind. After finishing our last law school exam, Joe convinced me to accompany him for a celebratory beer at his favorite bar in Chester, Pa. Some six hours later, unamused family members appeared at the establishment, in order to chauffeur us home. Joe and I, together with Dave Dickens, also worked together as Chester City Housing Inspectors, which summer employment, although well above our pay-grades, did culminate each Friday afternoon with a round of golf at Clayton Park. Last year Joe and I shared a meal at the St. James Doghouse, which was our last personal contact, save for a couple of more recent emails. I was quite shocked and saddened to learn of his passing, and offer my sincerest condolences to his dear wife and family. Rest in peace, Joe.
On behalf of the St. James High School Alumni Association, I extend our deepest sympathies and prayers on your loss. On April 18, 2021, the Alumni Association will remember Joe at their annual Memorial Mass at St. Madeline's Church in Ridley Park, PA.
I spoke to Joe many times about the practice of law and being a lawyer; we shared a mutual appreciation of what it is like to counsel clients and to practice law. He was unbelievably kind and humble and every time we shared "lawyer stories", I was inspired by his insights and professional knowledge, but I was also inspired by the man in that he was such a personable and kind person, and was always cheerful. I will miss our talks and reflections as to the practice of law and I will miss him.
Our sincere condolence to his family; he will be missed, Margaret Hill and Peter Pivovar
