5 years of Ursuline track with Mr Manlove as my coach -- what good memories I have of that time! And of Mr Manlove's steady presence and reassuring even tones of voice. He was such a shining presence. So grateful to have had him as a coach and influence in my young life!

I wish to offer my condolences to Mary Lou, Meghan & Nellie on the passing of my good friend Jack. I have nothing but fond memories of all the good times we enjoyed together at the Elk's Pool. Jack was a good man and an even better friend. I especially remember the rides we took together to Galena, MD, where Jack worked at the time, to pick up some of the best corn on the cob and crabs for the group picnics that we used to have. God Bless Jack and the Manlove Family.

Dear Nellie and Megan, I just saw the notice of your dad's passing, and my mind jumped immediately to memories of him coaching cross country and track at UA, which is how I knew him best. I remember so much of his kindness and patience and especially his smiles when dealing with the students. I have to say he set a good example in you two girls, who have the same qualities. My love to you and to your mom on this painful loss. Your dad was one of the great ones.

R I P my friend, condolences to your family, from one of your 1964 graduate friends.

I was saddened to see the passing of Jack. I knew Jack when we were teenagers. There was a group of us Wilmington High girls who met and befriended a group of Sallie boys, which included Jack. We all became good friends and dance partners. We all traveled around Wilmington to all the different dances. Jack was an amazing young man. He was so kind to everyone and was so much fun to be around and of course a great dancer!! I was honored to call him my friend. Sending my sincere condolences and keeping you all in my prayers at this difficult time.

Dear Mary Lou and girls and grandchildren,

I was one of Jack’s dancing buddies from the Sallies dances for 3 years. My sister, Maureen Kelley Dunning and my BFF, Franny Manning Curran, and another friend, Judy Gallagher, danced with Jack almost every week. He was in with the In-crowd!! Yes, he was a GREAT dancer!!!!

We all lived in Wilmington in the same direction, and he and Ralph Thompson (died in Vietnam) and Bobby (?) walked part way home together after the dances.

Jack was always the nicest and most thoughtful boy! ALWAYS so dear to all of us. We all loved him so much. I lost track of Jack when he went to Nam and after Ralph was killed, I totally lost my ability to keep contact. I’m so happy our Jack made it home.

Jack worked with my youngest brother, Jack Kelley, off and on at the Post Office. So, I was able to see your dear Jack, occasionally. He never changed. Always a great man. I’m so sorry you have lost this Angel on earth. Now, he is one of God’s favorites.

I’ll always remember Jack’s goodness,,, and the fun we all had dancing and growing up together !!! He was a part of my teen life and who I am today.

Jack, Mary Lou, Megan and Nellie were the best neighbors a family could have. Jack shared ideas with us as we undertook renovating our house. He worked so hard on his house, painstakingly stripping the wall beneath the stairs to it’s beautiful wood. He always undertaking some house project. Jack had an easy laugh and would share any tool or tips with us. We always knew who to ask. Mary Lou and his daughters have been so devoted to his care for these many years.
