Obituary of Betty E. Houck

Betty E. Houck, age 98, of Media PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 3, 2022. Betty was born in Bethel Township, PA and was a longtime resident of Middletown Township. She graduated from West Chester High School and was employed by Sun Oil Company for over 15 years before leaving to raise her family. Later on she worked as a cafeteria worker for Green Ridge Elementary School. Betty volunteered with Meals on Wheels and at Fair Acres in the gift shop.  

Betty was a member at Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, Aston, PA for over 60 years. She loved being outdoors and thoroughly enjoyed camping, traveling and long walks. Betty lived at Lima Estates for 15 years where she enjoyed spending time with friends, including her best friend for 90 years Lydia. She kept busy with bowling, daily group activities and trips. One of her favorite pastimes was to visit Cape May, NJ with her neighbor and good friend Helen. Most of all Betty cherished spending time with her family and cat, Izzy. She had a kind heart and will be sadly missed by many great friends and family.

Beloved wife to the late Irv Houck. She is survived by her daughters Carol W. (Dick) Sawczuk and Beth M. (Sam) Thompson and granddaughter Ryan Sawczuk.

Interment will be private.
