Obituary of Ralph E. Schad

Ralph E. Schad, age 92, of Aston, PA, died peacefully on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Sunrise Senior Living of Westtown, PA.  Ralph was a graduate of West Chester High School, Class of 1949.

Ralph was the 3^rd generation Owner/Operator of the family business, Schad’s Milk Express located in Aston, PA for more than 85 years.

Ralph was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, receiving the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and a Merit Unit Commendation. He continued his support with the American Legion, Post #805, Marple, PA. As a Post 805 Legionnaire, he performed Honor Guard Services with the  Marple Newtown Combined Veterans Alliance for Delaware County Veterans.

He was an 82 year member of Mount Hope United Methodist Church, Aston, PA.  He served on the administrative board and drove the church bus.

Ralph enjoyed car and truck shows and train exhibits.  He also loved attending many events at Chester Heights Camp Meeting. He was devoted to his family.

Husband of the late Katherine H. “Cathy” Payne Schad; Son of the late Frederick and Edith Smitham Schad.

Survivors:

Son: Donald Schad

Daughters: Wendy Schad Fooks (Rich) and Robin Schad Powell (Jim)

Granddaughter: Rebekah Powell Pedrick (Kyle)

Also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friday, June 2nd from 10:00-10:45AM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.

Funeral Service: Friday, June 2nd at 11:00AM at the funeral home.

Interment: Mt. Hope Cemetery.
