Obituary of Robert Andrew Cramer

 

Robert (“Bob”) Andrew Cramer passed away on October 31, 2023 at the age of 89 at home in Newtown Square, PA. He was born in 1934 in Williamsburg, PA. 

 

Bob is survived by his wife and constant companion of 65 years, Eileen (Baron), their children, Diane Melio (Mark), Patti Jenkins (Pem), and Mike Cramer, and 12 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Sue Weldon, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob in preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Anna Cramer, and his brothers, Jack and Ted. Bob was a loving and dedicated husband, a generous and caring father, and a doting grandfather. Bob's family was at the center of his life.

 

Bob's educational journey began at Williamson College of the Trades, where he graduated from the Power Plant Technology Program. Over the years, he served on various advisory positions for the College and was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2010. When asked about his proudest accomplishment, he responded “I believe I have lived up to the fundamental precepts taught at Williamson in my dealing with others during my career, and in my personal and family life.” Bob continued his education at Johns Hopkins University, graduating with a degree in Management Science.

 

He worked at Scott Paper Company for 35 years, where he was Director of Operations Research. He is credited for his role in developing the first linear programming computer and leading innovative industry practices. He also taught physics at Widener University.

 

Bob found joy in creating personalized cards for his beloved grandchildren (complete with corny jokes and pizza money), playing tennis, cutting the grass on his tractor, cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles, dancing the polka with Eileen, and sharing stories of his life.

 

He  loved St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church where he was an active member, serving on the Church’s Council, and singing in the choir. He served as a Red Cross board member, the president of Idle Hour Tennis Club, and a trustee of the Rose Valley Foundation.

 

Bob will be remembered for his faith, kindness, great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

 

Visitation will be on Saturday November 4, 2023, from 10:00-10:45 a.m.., at St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church,  Third and Ward Streets, Chester, PA., with funeral service to follow at 11 a.m.

 

Interment at Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
