Obituary of Rita A. Meli

Rita (Rossi) Meli, age 91, of Media, PA, formerly of Brookhaven, PA, died on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.  Rita was a graduate of Chester High School, Class of 1950.  She then graduated from Chester Hospital Nursing Program. Rita was a Registered Nurse at Chester Hospital and Hotel Dieu in El Paso, Texas.  In her later career, Rita was an office nurse for several local doctors.  After Rita retired, she worked for the Department of Delaware County Voting Machines.

Mrs. Meli was a parishioner of St. Anthony’s Parish, The Church of Our Lady of Charity and Nativity BVM.

Rita enjoyed knitting and made many afghans.  She was an avid reader, a loyal Philadelphia 76ers fan and an incredible cook.  Rita cherished spending time with her family.

Daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (D’Aquanno) Rossi; Mother of the late Michael Meli; Sister of the late Francis and Anthony Rossi, sister in law of the late Marie Rossi.

Survivors:

Husband of 70 years:  John T. Meli, Sr.

Sons:  John T. (Maria) Jr., and Larry Meli

Daughter: Gina (Alan) Barusevicius

Grandchildren:  Luke, Evan, John, III, Maddie, Riley, Rowan, Jackson, Grace

Brother:  Augustus Rossi

Sister in law:  Rose Rossi

Also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation: Saturday, June 15^th from 9:30-10:15AM at The Church of Our Lady of Charity, 231 Upland Rd., Brookhaven, PA 19015.

Funeral Mass: Saturday, June 15^th at 10:30AM at the Church of Our Lady of Charity.

Interment: Chester Rural Cemetery.
