Obituary of Ida J. Coyle

Ida J. Van Landingham Coyle, age 98 Ida J. Van Landingham Coyle, of Brookhaven, PA, formerly of Sarasota, FL and Brigantine, NJ, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Fair Acres Geriatric Center where she was lovingly cared for since 2009. Ida was born February 23, 1916, in Harrington, DE, as the only child of Edith W. and Harlan "Dumpy" Donovan. Ida was a little farm girl who grew up to be a creative and energetic lady. In her early years as a great cook and homemaker, Ida helped build her first Brookhaven home, laying cement blocks side-by-side with her husband. When that project finished, she turned to helping outside her home. Ida was a member of the Church of God, where she taught Sunday School, and served as Treasurer, as well as fundraising for the school PTA. Ida trained at Crozer-Chester Medical Center to become an LPN, and worked at the hospital for several years. She completed business school training to gain employment at Scott Paper Company. Through her enterprise and intelligence, Ida rose from entry clerking to Supervisor of the Engineering Reproduction Department, until her retirement in 1977. After her retirement, she enjoyed her Jersey shore home, before moving to Florida to enjoy life in the sun. Ida was predeceased by her first husband, Ellsworth F. Van Landingham, in 1977 and by her second husband, William H. Coyle, in 2009. SURVIVORS Ida leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jack Harper, to cherish and remember her joy for life; Two Grandsons; Six Great-Grandchildren, and One Great-Great-Grandson Memorial Contributions may be donated to "Friends of Fair Acres", c/o Fair Acres Geriatric Center, 340 N.
