Obituary of Thomas R. McKee

Thomas R. McKee, age 89, of Media, PA and formerly of Chester, PA, died quietly at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Tom, a graduate of Overbrook High School, Class of 1943, worked 40 years in the title insurance industry with Commonwealth Land Title in Media, PA, and Title Insurance Corporation of PA (TICP) in Bryn Mawr, PA, where he was Assistant Vice President. After retiring from TICP, Tom worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as a Registrar of Vital Statistics. While working at the Media Court House for Commonwealth Land Title, Tom met the love of his life, Joan Malseed, and they were married in 1949. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Tom was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Chester, PA, and was active in the Republican Party, having served as Judge of Elections in the 1st Ward. Tom also volunteered his time and services to the Boy Scouts and the Parkside Boys Club, where his children participated in the athletic programs. Tom was the father of the late J. Michael McKee; son of the late James and Minnie McKee; brother of the late Olive Rowley (Joe), Jim (Katherine), Charles (Kitty) and Lewis McKee. SURVIVORS Wife of 65 years, Joan Malseed McKee Children, Deborah J. McKee (Michele), Terry P. McKee (Margaret), and Donna L. Heneks (Wood) Sister-in-law, Thelma McKee Smith Grandchildren, Megan McKee, Rebecca Long, J. Michael Heneks, Kristen Heneks Ponzio (Anthony), Wood M. Heneks, III, Holly Heneks and Samantha Heneks Also survived by several Nieces and Nephews Memorial Contributions, in lieu of flowers, donated in Tom's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106, would be appreciated by the family.
