I am sending my deepest sympathies to the family. I was a classmate with Steve in OLV & one year in DePaul. My mom, Joanne Giles was Val's close friend. Both of them were taken too soon. Just a few weeks ago, I sent around an invite to our OLV classmates to see if we could all find the time to reconnect this coming summer as we were all turning the big "60". Then, Dennis Atieh, sent me the news of Steve & his passing. I am very sad to hear this news but know that with our faith, he is now in a better place. I truly enjoyed the beautiful video posted on this site to see his family & friends. God Bless!
Karen Fitzgerald (and my brothers, Bob, Bill & Larry Giles)
We are deeply saddened to learn of Steve's passing. He was a wonderful neighbor. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
My deepest sympathy to the Merrit family during this difficult time. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

Stunned and bitterly saddened to get this news. He was one of the most pleasant and competent senior administrators that I have ever known and he quietly made many significant contributions to the enhancement of Villanova University's student capabilities. To say that he will be missed is severe understatement. Our thoughts are with his family.

We were so saddened to learn of Stephen's passing. Know that our entire family is praying for the Merritts!

Steve, your wicked sense of humor and great laugh will live on. We were blessed to know you. Hugs to your family and friends; be at peace.
So sorry for the loss of your dear loved one Stephen Merritt. May the God of comfort grant you peace at this sad time. John 5:28,29.
Dear Merritt Family
So sorry to hear the news about Steve and your loss. He was a great classmate, a trusted teammate and at an age when we were not yet considered men, Steve was a true gentleman.
Sincerest condolences
Lou Martucci, DPHS ‘74
Having the privilege of knowing Steve as a dear friend and classmate from grammar school through high school, Steve was always the guy you looked up to. His love for life was equally matched for the love of his family and friends. Steve will be sadly missed.
Our deepest condolences to the Merritt Family.
