Dot / Mrs. Thompson was one of my favorite people, always welcomed me into her home and always with a ready smile. Despite many years passing, I remember when I saw her a few years ago how warm and loving she was. I hadn't seen her in years, yet the years seem to melt away as she greeted me with her typical "Hello, Sue Bowen" and warm smile! Just thinking of her now makes me smile! Her love and compassion for others certainly has made the world a better place. She will be missed!

I met Dot at Penn State, cheering on her daughter Lynne. Encouraging, happy and kind is what I remember of Dot. I'm very happy she lived a long and joyful life.

So many good memories of Dot going back to the high school and college. Spent many an afternoons and evenings at the Thompson's playing Basketball, Hockey, Pool and Ping Pong and Dot was always there with a smile and a kind word. Dot was not afraid to correct and rebuke you when you needed it (Lord knows that I often needed it back then) but she did it in a way that made you feel like she really cared.

Patty and I are so thankful and blessed to have known her and the whole Thompson family. It was such a blessing to have seen her and spent some time talking with her at Erin's basketball game a few weeks ago. We shared a warm hug and her face lit up with a smile. Once again, she encouraged me telling me life can be tough but that I got it. We will cherish all the memories and look forward to seeing her again to share another warm hug.

What can I say about Dot? I have so many memories over the years-mostly from Junior High and High School, but some as an adult too. The Thompson household was the judgement free zone and the place to go when you might be in trouble. I recall RUNNING there from an overnight camp out somewhere where we had permission to be camping , but running anyway, and another time RUNNING there when a party was busted by the police.( mind you, Lynn wasn’t misbehaving, but the rest of us were!) There was always a snack and love. I remember spending a lot of time with Lynn at the house on Chipmunk Lane. After prom party at least one year. Then there was a visit there after one of our HS reunions. Lots of laughter and fun.

Of course, Dot was always at all of our field hockey, basketball and lacrosse games at Indian Lane and Penncrest. Usually with snacks.

Dot was always happy to see me when we ran into each other around town. Especially when I would see her at Bevans. She was a wonderful person who will be missed by many.

So sorry for your loss, but I have wonderful memories of Dot at Penn State Lacrosse games. Our love to the whole family.
