I’m so very sorry, Bruce, Abby and Andrew for your loss. You may not have known many of us NICU nurses who had the opportunity to work beside Cindy, chat with her and share stories about our families. She was a brilliant woman, and strived to do the very best she could for our tiny vulnerable patients. I will never forget a day when my patient who was improving after being very ill, suddenly went into cardiac arrest after a central line was pulled. Cindy was on call as back up that day and our team coded and supported the baby until she got there 40 minutes after she was called. She tapped the baby’s heart and saved him from dying from cardiac tamponade. Not only did she perform that miraculous skill, but she then took the time to write letters for all of our files about how we played an important role in saving the baby. Selfless, generous and always kind and humble.. I will never forget that day nor will I forget Cindy. May she rest in painless peace now.
